Self-Portrait:Many Pictures, One Face, 2023

During the first day of my class about photography, the teacher asked the student to take a portrait of oursleves, but with a twist. The teacher did not allow us to take a regular selfie. Instead, we had to take a non-regular portrait of ourselves which encapsulates a part about us. The task was quite freeform, because so long that the portrait was not a selfie, we were allowed to do whatever with this photo.

This as allowed me to think about my usual dislike on self-portrait and how I can illustrate this though this artwork. In the past, I remembered doing an assignment where we had to take multiple pictures of ouselves, then cut out the different pieces of our face and scramble it on the worktable at our station. Seing as my dislike stems from seeing my full visage, I decided to redo some steps of that assignment to make my self-portrait. In this way, I am able to represent a self-portrait of myself which, while does show all parts of my face, is scrambled and can seem unrecognizable and hidden at first glance.
